Call for the third edition of the Exchange Grants between Hangar and Casa de Velázquez

For the third consecutive year we are publishing this call for the elaboration of a programme of exchange residences between Casa de Velázquez (Madrid) and Hangar (Barcelona). The aim of these grants is to provide artists with the opportunity to get to know other artistic and cultural environments, to produce and compare their work with that of others and to broaden their artistic curriculum. Within the framework of this programme, three artists residing in Catalonia will remain at Casa de Velázquez in Madrid (one artist in the production residency modality and two artists in the research residency modality) and one French artist will carry out a production residency in Hangar (Barcelona). This exchange programme is supported by the Institut Français Barcelona.

About Casa de Velázquez
Casa de Velázquez is both an artistic creation centre and a research centre. This is what constitutes its uniqueness in the five French Schools abroad under the tutelage of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research: the French School in Athens, the French School in Rome, the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology in Cairo and the French School in the Middle East. Since it was founded in 1928, the House has had the special feature of welcoming artists from the Academy of France in Madrid and researchers together within the framework of the School of Advanced Hispanic and Iberian Studies (Escuela de Altos Estudios Hispánicos e Ibéricos, EHEHI). Casa de Velázquez’s mission is to develop creative activities and research related to the arts, languages, literatures and societies of the Iberian, Latin American and Maghreb countries. It also aims to contribute to the training of artists, researchers and teacher-researchers, as well as to participate in the development of artistic and scientific exchanges between France and related countries.

About Hangar
Hangar is an open centre for research and artistic production that supports creators and artists. Hangar’s mission is to support creators in all phases of the visual arts production process, and to contribute to the best achievement of each of their projects. To this end, all its services focus on facilitating artists’ access to the necessary material and technical resources, and on providing a context for experimentation, research and free transfer of knowledge. The centre offers a context and services that enable the research and development of artistic productions in a partial or integral way, and accompanies their results through their inclusion in various networks and platforms or the detection of the possibilities of their anchorage in other sectors.
