Hisae Ikenaga (1977), half-Mexican, half-Japanese, presents three series of works at ARCOmadrid 2013: inlays, glasses and shaped archives. The common theme is the transformation of furniture. The artist has a consistent interest in the transformation of materials and their processes.
She studied Fine Arts in Mexico City, going on to do postgraduate studies in Kyoto, Barcelona and Madrid. Her work has been shown in different venues in Madrid (Naves del Matadero, Casa Encendida), Cuba, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Spain, UK and USA.
