Martín Carrizo, Río Tercero (Córdoba-Argentina)

Ever since he was a child he has been observing and learning countless manual works and crafts. When he was 6 he built his first brick wall and cooked his first rice stew. In 2003 he started working in a carpentry shop, where he remained for 4 years.

He began his artistic career in 2004 entering the Bachelor of Sculpture at the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Cordoba. In 2012, after winning the 1st Itau Award for Visual Arts, he received a scholarship to attend various workshops at the University Torcuato Di Tella, dictated by Diego Bianchi, Eduardo Stupía, Inés Katzenstein and Graciela Speranza among others.

In 2012 he received a mention in the Salón Nacional de Escultura. In 2013, he got a mention in the Bienal de Arte Joven de Buenos Aires and held his first solo exhibition, “Construcciones”, in the gallery Alberto Sendros.

In recent years, he participated in many group exhibitions such as “Cien Años del Museo Emilio Caraffa” Cordoba 2014 “Finalistas Bienal Arte Joven de Buenos Aires” 2013. “Escultores cordobeses” in the Dionisi Palace Museum, Córdoba 2014, and “Finalistas Salón Nacional de Bellas Artes”, Palais de Glace, Buenos Aires, 2012.

During 2014 and 2015 he participated in Clínicas de obras del Fondo Nacional de las Artes in Cordoba-Tucuman, Raul Flores’ Yungas Project and URRA Residency that led him to Buenos Aires for a year.

In 2015, he was awarded by the Bienal de Arte Joven de Buenos Aires to participate in the Residence HANGAR in Barcelona, Spain.
