Simon Penny

Period of residence: May – June 2013

Simon Penny has worked at the interface of Art and Science/Technology of over 25 years. In the 80s he worked in computer graphics and utilized process control electronics for sensor-driven interactive installations. He was Professor of Art and Robotics at Carnegie Mellon through the 90s where he built custom machine vision and motion control systems. He designed and established the Arts Computation Engineering interdisciplinary master at University of California Irvine and teaches Construction of Discourse in the Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media master at UPF, Barcelona.

Mr. Penny is going to be developing in Hangar his project Phatus  and give the workshop “Art/Science Interdisciplinarity” workshop in the framework of the European project Soft Control.
