Presentation of candidates for Hangar’s Programme Committee (2010-2012)

This June, Hangar’s current Programme Committee is ending its two-year work period. The Programme Committee is an independent jury that takes artistically-related decisions, such as who is allocated one of Hangar’s studios, who is the finalist for an exchange grant abroad, etc., as well as monitoring the resident artists’ work on a half-yearly basis. It also plays and an advisory role to Hangar in terms of future planning (new services, extensions.…). It is made up of five people (three artists and two critics/curators), who are selected, every two years, at the AAVC’s members’ General Meeting.

The committee which is currently coming to the end of its term was selected in May 2008, and was initially made up of Marcel·lí Antúnez, Luís Bisbe and Carles Guerra (artists) and David Armengol and Pilar Parcerisas (curators/critics). However, both Carles Guerra and Pilar Parcerisas had to resign from the committee for professional reasons and they were replaced by Salvador Juanpere and Maribel Perpiñá.

It is once again time for a new committee, for the period June 2010 to June 2012, to be selected at the members’ General Meeting. Your candidates/candidacies must however be presented beforehand. You may propose up to five candidates, three of which must be artists and two which must be critics/curators. The candidate should be somebody who knows the artistic circuit (especially the up and coming generation that usually avails of Hangar’s facilities), is ready to share his/her experience, offer a service to the artistic community and carries out his/her activities in a professional manner. The work entails the preparation and participation in meetings, which is rewarded with an attendance stipend.

So, the first step in the process is to send us the names of the five candidates you’re putting forward for consideration before May 27, 2010.

Please send your proposals via e-mail (info@aavc.net), Please send your proposals via e-mail (info@aavc.net), to the postal address (Sant Pere Més Alt 27, ppal 5ª, 08003, Barcelona) or to the following fax (932683671).

If possible, please also send a brief C.V. outlining the candidate’s career or a relevant website. You can download the document to be filled out with your proposals at the following link: Candidacy proposals

We will give you up-to-date news about the rest of the process and deadlines leading up to the General Meeting, which is due to take place around mid-June.

We’ll be awaiting your participation.

Cordially,

Joan Fontcuberta
AAVC President
