Open call for participation in ODD 4 (One Drone Day)

ODD is a twelve-hour immersive sonic experience based entirely on proposals that can only be categorized as part of the Drone genre. It will take place on November 24th from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m. uninterruptedly in Hangar, a research and production centre for the visual arts in Barcelona.
Organized from the Hangar Sonor platform, ODD is a risky and different proposal that invites attendees to practice a different, more quiet and horizontal listening position that makes it easier to enter into mental states that are difficult to achieve with other musical genres.
The event will feature high-powered quadraphony (4.1).
The programme will be composed of 11 artists chosen by this call and one Guest Artist.

Specifications of the proposals

– All proposals will be accepted as long as they belong to the Drone genre.

– Projects that take advantage of the quadraphony and spatial character of the event and those that best fit the ODD thematic will be especially valued.

– ODD is a purely an audio recording event with live performances only, so video and pre-recorded formats are not allowed.

– A relaxed and comfortable space will be created for the attendees with almost total darkness.

– Given the uninterrupted nature of the event, the performances will overlap for about 5 minutes to avoid silence. It is important to take this factor into consideration for the first five and last five minutes of each live performance.

– ODD is a non-profit sound experiment. All the money generated from the sale of tickets will be used to cover the costs of the festival. A financial compensation of 150€ is provided for participants.

– Only sound works that fit within the Drone genre will be accepted.

– The pieces presented will have a minimum duration of 30 minutes.

– The artist commits himself/herself to a one-hour live performance if selected.

– The live performance and the piece presented must be coherent.

– The use of quadraphony in live performances is not essential, but will be valued.

– Each work must be accompanied by an explanatory text of the piece and its technical needs.

– Proposals must be submitted in MP3 or FLAC format via link (Yousendit, Dropbox etc) to sergi(at) by 9 September 2018 at 24.00h.

– During the month of September, the jury composed of the organizers of the event and the Guest Artist will meet to select 11 proposals from all the works received.

– The selected projects will be announced on October 3, 2018 by e-mail to the participants and through this website.
