Orquestra del Caos presents Semblance by Colin Black

May 7th Tuesday at 20h at Sala Ricson  Hangar. Free entrance.

Semblance was created especially for Frequency Oz’s The Transmuted Signal curated series on Kunstradio which aired over the Austrian public radio network in February and March 2013. As part of the curated series, Semblance explored in the sonic space the notion that exclusively visual media, even when highly abstracted is not purely visual but rather is an innately multi-modal experience. In the same way, audio media is not a purely blind media, but also creates images in the minds of the listeners.

Colin Black is an internationally acclaimed composer/sound artist/radio artist having won the 2003 Prix Italia Award and achieving the final round selection in the 2010 and 2011 Prix Phonurgia Nova for his creative feature length radio works. As a result of this acclaim, Black has received multiple national and international commissions to create innovative long-form works for broadcast across major Australian and European networks. Black’s curatorial credits include, international festival/showcases of award winning Australian acoustic art and radio art at Kunstradio ÖRF (Austria), Resonance104.4fm (London) and NAISA (New Adventures in Sound Art) Toronto.
