Exchange grant for artistic projects between Taller 7 (Medellín) and Hangar (Barcelona)

Hangar and Taller 7 have signed an agreement for the realization of an artists exchange residency program, whose objective is to facilitate the knowledge of other artistic and cultural environments, to produce and to confront their work with those of others and expand their artistic curriculum. Under this program, an artist residing in Spain will remain in Taller 7, Medellín, for three months and an artist residing in Colombia will hold a residence in Hangar (Barcelona). Taller 7 will carry out the management of the necessary resources to realize the residence of the artist of Medellín in Hangar during the year 2018.

About Taller 7

Taller 7 is a self-managed project that emerged in 2003 in Medellín on the initiative of a group of plastic artists. It is proposed as a laboratory of creation and experimentation, a space of thought, research and exchange that aims at the development of processes that can have continuity in the long term through the construction of networks of work and collaboration. The Residency Program promotes the exchange of artists and curators in pursuit to incorporate dialogue between local and national and international scenarios and processes, trying to strengthen the discussion around artistic practices in the city. Residences, beyond looking for the production of specific projects, try that the residents approach a new context, during a determined period of time, that allows them to enrich their experience.

The exhibitions, workshops and conversations respond to the need for spaces that project the processes generated during the residences and the work of curators and artists. It has tried to maintain a constant and divergent flow of projects that allow diverse glances, configuring an open space in permanent change, where the greater interest is to propitiate a platform prepared to promote processes of investigation and experimentation.
