PIPES – Participatory Investigation of Public Engaging Spaces

The activity programme of Hangar for the PIPES project intends to engage experts on art, society, technology and design to generate, through a critical review, a common state of the art on the fields of interface design.

The activities are designed and hosted by Hangar (Center For Visual Arts Research and Production) together with the UOC (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya- Studies of Informatics, Multimedia and Telecommunications). They gather international and local experts, paying special attention on ethical, aesthetical, philosophical and social aspects such as universality and subjectivity, transparency and concealment, privacy and publicness.

A dialogue between praxis and teorethical approaches will be motivated by involving artists, programmers, designers, thinkers, scholars and university students. Critical approaches, deep analysis and transdisciplinary projects will be carried out through a residency, workshops and round tables distributed in three activity modules running along the project duration.

This programme of activities is also a framework where the interface developed specifically for the PIPES project will be tested and reviewed from different conceptual backgrounds.

The Pipes web collect all the outcomes of the programme.
