Christie is a queer artist and designer. Through a feminist critique, she experiments with biomateriality and wearables, intersecting textile innovation, costume design, biohacking, and sextech. Her artistic exploration of (trans)feminist activism and hacker culture is expressed through interactive and performative aesthetics, aiming to inspire and provoke debate and critical reflection on taboos and stigma surrounding sexuality, pleasure, and hybrid identities. She studied fashion design at Istituto Marangoni (Milan/London), experimental cinema at BAU (Barcelona), and completed the Fabricademy Barcelona (IAAC) programme, focused on biology, digital fabrication, and wearable technology. She also specialized in sextech through the Sextech School by Bryony Cole.
Since 2015, she has worked as a freelance designer in costume, wearable technology, and bioart, as well as a researcher and workshop facilitator with Bruixes_Lab. She has participated in artistic and research residencies such as FEMLab Residency (Hangar Barcelona and Mz Baltazar’s Lab, Vienna), and has presented projects at events like Maker Faire Bilbao and Future Material Bank (Jan van Eyck Academy). Together with Giulia Tomasello, she co-founded Bruixes_Lab, a nomadic laboratory where biohacking and witchcraft rituals are combined to create speculative scenarios around pleasure, experimenting with DIY sensor circuits to hack the experience of arousal and decentralize normative binaries of sexuality and the body. They have participated in the TTT Conference in Malta, led workshops at Observatorio del Placer in Barcelona, Ars Electronica in Linz, MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven, III Instrument Inventors in The Hague, and many more.
El proyecto desarrollado durante su residencia forma parte de una serie de investigaciones especulativas llevadas a cabo por neuX, un laboratorio futurista e interactivo que experimenta con el placer y la sexualidad desde una perspectiva poshumana, performativa y transfeminista. En esta línea, se entrelazan narrativas eróticas de ciencia ficción, pieles cyborg y biomaterialidades con entornos naturales y escenarios distópicos.
Este capítulo se centra en el diseño y la investigación especulativa de un bio-textil sensorial portátil, capaz de utilizar elementos naturales del entorno y fluidos corporales para generar frecuencias activistas. El objetivo es establecer un vínculo simbiótico entre el cuerpo humano, sus fluidos y su entorno, para propiciar una escucha activa y visceral de los acontecimientos y transformaciones que se manifiestan dentro y fuera de nosotros, desde una perspectiva climática, social y política. El tejido está compuesto por biocircuitos de fluidos corporales, como la sangre menstrual, y se concibe como un sintetizador portátil e interactivo que capta sonidos humanos y no-humanos, internos y externos. Cada cambio natural o corporal afecta a la frecuencia generada, produciendo ruidos activistas que desencadenan una conversación o performance en torno a cuestiones urgentes de nuestra actualidad.
