Creación y museos 2022

Hangar collaborates with the Museu del Disseny in Creació i Museus 2022, a pairing program promoted by the ICUB that brings together resident artists from the city’s creative factories with museums and cultural institutions in Barcelona. For this edition, resident artist Daniel Moreno Roldán will present the audiovisual installation Salvapantallas fantasma, a newly produced work open until September 4 at the Museu del Disseny as part of the Festival Grec.

From an audiovisual installation in which different elements dialogue with each other two large-format rear projection televisions, several burned CRT monitors, small glass sculptures and an analog television broadcasting system, Salvapantallas fantasma aims to open a space for reflection and criticism on the ethics of technology and the culture of techno-progress. In addition, the very inclusion of this type of artifacts in the Museum reflects on the interest in the conservation, preservation and archiving of technological and digital heritage, questioning how it should be managed by public institutions and how and how it should be mediated with the population.

Obsolescence as a construct, the nostalgic condition towards technology, the contradictions raised by retro culture and fetishism, the speculation around scarcity in technological collecting, or ecological awareness in the face of supposedly unlimited progress, are some of the issues that are part of the artist’s research.

Daniel Moreno Roldán will give a guided tour of the exhibition on Wednesday, July 27 at 7 pm. It is necessary to confirm attendance at reservesmuseudeldisseny@eicub.net.

Salvapantalles fantasma was made with the collaboration of Albert Sánchez and Daniel Miracle.
