Ana Garcia Pineda
Sabadell (Barcelona), 1982
Period of residence: September 2007 – 2009
Ana Garcia Pineda has a Fine Arts degree from Barcelona and Berlin universities. Ana’s drawings show her own particular view of the world. Their drawings explain little daily tragedies in an humorous and apparently naive way, like illustrated aphorisms or minimal maxims with a touch of absurdity that reveal the wickedness and the malice they really hide. This bittersweet disasters, in a neat style, are combined with short and direct texts cleverly directed to our neuralgic centre, with the intention to destabilise our beliefs or, at least, question them.
Ana is co-founder, with Haizea Barcenilla, of Damas collective, the objective of which is to concentrate on connecting elements like bridges, zip fasteners, nets or velcro straps, and to experiment with the curatorial format.
She has carried out solo projects like Salvar el mundo or Romperlo todo y que haga tiroriro and she has also took part in collective exhibitions like I will not throw rocks in London or Cosmopolitan Barcelona in New York.
