Llobet & Pons
Jasmina Llobet, Barcelona 1978 / Luis Fernandez Pons, Madrid 1979
Period of residency: February 2013 – February 2015
Colective formed by Jasmina Llobet (Barcelona, 1978) and Luis Fernández Pons (Madrid, 1979), who develop their artist labor together since 2002.
The daily nature is the main element and unifying thread in the Llobet & Pons’ work, materializing in different forms and disciplines, sometimes bordering on scenography, architecture or design. Their projects are based on observation of the context, research and dialogue; they deal with themes ranging from the transcendent to the banal; and take everyday elements to turn them around and use them as significant particles at the service of creating new metaphors and meanings.
They have carried out permanent projects in the public space of Seoul Innovation Park, South Korea (2015); and in Teshima Island, Japan, commissioned by the Fukutake Foundation (2013). They have also been finalists for the realization of a permanent project in Berlin, commissioned by bbk’s Office for Art in Public Space. Berlin, Germany (2014); and they have been selected for the Emdash Award, Frieze Art Fair, Londres (2011). They have carried out unclassifiable projects as “Circle of Hairdressers”, MACBA es viu. MACBA, Barcelona (Performance) (2016).
