Azahara Cerezo
Summer Sessions Exchange Grant
September - October 2020
Azahara Cerezo. Girona, 1988
In her artistic practice, Azahara Cerezo investigates the notion of territory as a knot of elements linked to the experience of space and time, corporeality, the crystallization of memory, and the tensions between public and private, whose physical dimension merges with digitizing transformations of global scope. Through minimal gestures of reappropriation and displacement in multiple media, such as (post)photography, actions -physical and online- and video, she tries to point out the tensions of the space we inhabit.
She has been a resident at Art3 (Valence. Exchange with Homesession, Barcelona), Colegio de España (Paris), Villa Belleville (Paris), Casa de Velázquez (Madrid. Exchange with Hangar, Barcelona) or Flax Art Studios (Belfast, Northern Ireland), among others. Recently, she has exhibited individually at the Centro de Arte La Regenta (Las Palmas, Canary Islands) with “Mapa de circunstancias” and at MAL (Seville) with “Y en ese claroscuro surgen los monstruos”. She has participated in collective exhibitions such as “Juntos aparte” (Bienalsur. Cúcuta, Colombia), “We are as Gods…” in Nieuwe Vide (Haarlem, Holland), “Provincia 53” in MUSAC (León), “J(e m)’accuse o la mort de l’autor” in Bòlit (Girona) or “Especies de espacios” in MACBA (Barcelona).
