Carme Solé studied painting in Escola Massana, in Barcelona. She edits her first book in 1968 and, since then, she has illustrated more than 700 titles, among albums and textbooks. Her books deal with diverse themes, they are appropriate for different age groups, and through them she always explores new techniques and styles. Her artworks follow the rich Catalan tradition of illustration, and set a precedent for a new artists generation.
She has been distinguished with many awards, notably among them: Janusz Korczak (1979), Nacional de ilustración (1979), Catalònia (1984), Critici in Erba (1992), Octogone la Fonte (1992) and Creu de Sant Jordi (2006).
She also works in poster art, animated films, scenography, dramaturgy and theatre direction.
