The origin of Gemma’s artworks is at the observation and the experience of what surrounds her. She can’t understand any installation or exhibition without being closely bound (in form and in concept) with the landscape or the people living in. Techniques and materials are never a limitation but an inexhaustible source of resources since she sees the material as an important part of the message. The combination and fusion of styles and resources are a main characteristic of her artworks. Gemma has a strong inclination towards photography, but always combined with pictorial or sculptural techniques. The messages in her work go from intangible to surreal, and they always talk about stories and feelings.
