The focus of Jordi Ribes‘ work is on painting. He emphasises its most narrative aspect through the representation of scenographies emerged from a childish game in which personages, situations and landscapes suggest fantastic film, art or tales.
This way, Ribes tries to raise (from the seduction and the rarity) an introspective and closed world that refers to our collective imaginary.
His artworks are an attempt to displace the viewer, reinforced by the style of painting: he uses oil paint deprived of his usual malleability, to show it with a cold, polished and artificial diction. It is a technical perversion applied with the intention to approach himself to the digital language, in a game between informatics and pictorial work.
