Laura Balboa lives and works in Mexico City, has studied visual arts at the School of Painting, Sculpture and recorded “La Esmeralda” l INBA and graphic design at the School of Advanced Studies of the UNAM Acatlán.
Multidisciplinary artist who constantly crosses the boundaries between different artistic languages. Her work includes: sampling, appropriation, moving image, live cinema, drawing, object, sculpture, sound art, installation, site specific, written language, semantics of programming, poetry, essays, analysis of technological and artistic practices, net- Art, Internet, virtual reality, error, experimentation, chaos, DIY-DIT, life hacking and open information flows.
She has worked and collaborated with the Multimedia Center of the National Arts Centre (2007-2010), was Fellow FONCA Program Young Artists (2008-2009) and has exhibited her work in San Francisco, Quebec, Mexico, Spain and recently in the Calit2 Gallery at the University of San Diego, California. Currently working on a visual arts project for psychiatric patients with the support of Public Programs-Collection Foundation Jumex.
