Natalia Domínguez has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, she has studied at the Fontys Hogeschool voor of Kunsten in Tilburg, Holland, and she has a Master’s degree in research and artistic production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
Her artistic concern arises from her interest in the analysis of the symbol as a container of meaning and how it helps us to conceive the space around us. She feels more faithful to the concept than to the form and ideas such as the need for symbolic communication and the questioning of the utility of the artistic object are quite recurrent in her work, so that on many occasions she ends up questioning the very nature of art and the hierarchical codes that make it up.
During the past 2018 he opened the solo exhibitions Greetings to the audience (Sala PTS, Granada), [ ] (Sala Project – Espacio Pinea) and Words without thoughts (Mr. Pink Gallery, Valencia), she won the second prize at the XXXIV Muestra de Arte Joven in La Rioja and was artist in residence of the I Program of production UAVA/C3A.
Previously, she has also enjoyed the artistic residencies Fundación BilbaoArte and El Ranchito Brasil – Matadero Madrid Residency Program and her work has been awarded within the framework of the INICIARTE Program (Junta de Andalucía), the III Sala d’Arcs Call for Exhibition Projects of the Fundación Chirivella Soriano and the XIV International Contest of Plastic Arts of the CEC.
Since 2014, her works and projects have been exhibited at Matadero Madrid, PIVÔ Brasil, CAAC Sevilla, CAC Málaga, ACA’18 – I Foro de Arte Contemporáneo Andaluz and the XIX Mostra d’Art Públic of the Universidad de Valencia, among other institutions.
In parallel to her artistic production, Natalia Domínguez has also been an author at nosotros-art, an online platform for research on contemporary art between 2015 and 2016 and co-founder, cultural manager and independent curator at Espacio Cienfuegos, Málaga, between 2012 and 2014.
