Silvia Ulloa
Silvia Ulloa, Madrid 1978
Period of residence: October – December 2011
Silvia Ulloa’s work is with Mimesis, mimesis as repetition.
What interests her is the idea of “the copy”; the notion of copy in the work of Deleuze as being something different from what it has been originated.
With every repetition, a difference appears again and again.
The copy is a “lie”.
“Copying has a certain negative connotation in our society, especially because of individuality that drives the attention towards the comparison of the two [what are their differences] instead of considering the two for what they independently are. Difference should fundamentally be the object of affirmation and not negation. I celebrate the autonomous status of every single copy.”
Mimesis is evolution.
