The artistic production of Ainara Elgoibar is part of a research on sedimentation processes that lead to the creation of communities that share meanings and senses derived from private practices. The copy and its repetition are substantial elements of this process.
Copying leads to apprehend a given meaning through materiality and action; variation relates to an original from which it draws a distance that produces alternative and updated version of it. Repetition is the movement that solidifies, the mechanism by which variations to a general discourse settle down, but also the action that allows sensing the forms through which those generalities were once transmitted.
Her works have been materialized mostly in video and installation. She often uses the musical cover as a working methodology to research what encourages behaviors related to pop music, their intimate internalization as well as their communal ritual.
