Christian Jankowski

Christian Jankowski, Göttingen (Alemanya) 1968

Christian Jankowski is a contemporary multimedia artist who works with video, installation art and photography. He has created several television appearances, including Telemística (1999), in which question Italian television futurists if his new artwork will succeed (the video that he created actually consisted of recording the responses of futurists) and The Holy Artwork (2001), which collaborated with televangelist.

In This I Played Tomorrow (2003), a work in two parts, in the first interview to a group of amateur actors and people on the street, at the door of Cinecittà film studios in Rome, wondering about his artistic aspirations and if would like to make movies. The second part is a film that he wrote from the responses of people and filmed inviting respondents to participate as actors.

His work Living Sculptures, exhibited in 2007 at the Ramblas in Barcelona, consists of three sculptures made taking as living statues mold of traditional act on this street.

His videos, films and installations have been exhibited internationally in places as the Sala de Arte Público Siqueiros, Mexico City, Mexico (2012), Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome (2012), Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden (2009); Kunstmuseum Stuttgart (2008); Miami Art Museum, Miami (2007); List Visual Arts Center, Massachusetts (2005); Artpace, San Antonio (2001) and Wadsworth Atheneum, Hartford (2000).
