Lucía Egaña wins the FONDART grant from Chile
Resident Lucia Egaña R. has been awarded a research grant in the field of Visual Arts granted by the National Fund of Culture and Arts FONDART, Chile. This grant will finance the entire project as well as its publication in book format within a year. The “Diaspóricas. Migrar, crear, transformar” project, which will be carried out together with the Chilean curator and researcher Paulina Varas, consists of an inquiry into the forms of production of Chilean artists and thinkers in the diaspora, understanding the notion of border, together with Gloria Anzaldúa, as a metaphor for certain psychological, sexual, spiritual, cultural, class and race barriers. In this sense, the project aims to investigate how these changes and transvases of context affect the constitution or cancellation of certain borders, and how this also extends to the field of artistic creation and criticism.
