Ce Quimera
Artist and researcher born in Argentina and based in Europe since 2000. She studied Social Anthropology at the UBA in Buenos Aires, while doing internships in performing arts and performance. In 2008, together with Kina Madno, she founded the laboratory Quimera Rosa in Barcelona. Since then, her body and research work has focused on post-identitarian gender politics and experiments on bodies, identities and technosciences from a trans*feminist perspective. Her current work focuses on the development of performances, transdisciplinary projects and interactive installations, the elaboration of devices that work with bodily activity, scientific research and biohacking experiments. Her work involves long periods of research/experimentation, usually in residencies.
In 2013/2014 they developed with Quimera Rosa the project ‘Turing Test Sexoskeleton’, a performance/interactive installation that received the VIDA 14.0 production award and was in residence at Laboral and Hangar. In 2016 they began the Trans*Plant, project, which was realised and produced by Ars Electronica and the European Network for Digital Art and Science EMAP EMARE, Hangar and the Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), the University of Davis in California, L’Antre Peaux and the biotechnology company Genialis Biotech in France. It was supported by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation and the CNC National Film Centre of France. Trans*Plant will be shown between 2019 and 2021 at the CCCB as part of the exhibition Ciencia Fricció, at the Laboral Centro de arte, BioArtSociety Helsinki, Musées de Soissons, Rixc Museum in Riga, Halle in Germany, Nova Festival 2021 in Bucharest and Croatia, among others.
In 2019 she is involved in ‘Acá soy la que se fue: relatos sudakas en la Europa fortaleza’, a first collection of stories made by and for migrants from Abya Yala and the Caribbean in Europe. She is artist-in-residence at the Hangar wetlab, where she carries out research and experimental projects in art and science. There, together with Gaia Leandra, she develops the project Bioxeno, a research on cyanobacteria in the Ebro Delta in Catalonia and the Paraná Delta in Argentina, a project that won the Barcelona 2020 Awards. She is part of the Pluriversidad nómada, an inclusive, para-institutional, rhizomatic, autonomous and nomadic pedagogical project in the process of constitution that seeks to move from a universal knowledge to a pluriversal of meanings and knowledge located at the intersection of art, science, technology and ecologies.
Most of her work is collaborative and always free of patents and proprietary codes. Her work has been presented in venues and festivals such as Museo Reina Sofía, MACBA, MUSAC, Théâtre National de Montpelier and Parsons School in France. Kapelica Gallery (SI), AMOQA Arts Queer Museum Athens (GR), Goldsmith University, UC Davis and Santa Cruz in California, Fine Arts School in Argentina and Mexico. And festivals such as Sight & Sound in Montreal (CA), LUFF in Lausanne (CH), Gender Trouble in Lisbon (PT), Panorama Festival in Rio (BR), CyborgGrrrls (MX). She has taught workshops at universities and art schools such as Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris, ENSA in Limoges and Aix en Provence, UC Davis in California and PEI directed by Paul B. Preciado at the MACBA Museum.
