Exchange grant Summer Sessions 2021

Open call for the participation of an artist residing in Spain in the Summer Sessions 2021 program. Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and creators. The residencies are sponsored and hosted by a network of cultural organizations around the world.

Hangar will sponsor an artist from Spain to participate in this program and carry out a two-month residency at V2_Lab (Rotterdam).

Objective of this call and its beneficiaries
The objective of this call is to select an artist to participate in the Summer Sessions Program. This call is aimed at artists and designers who work with art and technology and who reside in Spain.

Residency period
Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between June and September. During this period the selected person will develop a project from concept to a presentable work, ready to be shown. The dates of the residency will be confirmed with the host institution.

Benefits and funding of the grant
– Living expenses: 1500 € (750 €/month)
– Fees: 500 €.
– Production costs: 750 € (750 €/month)
– Flight expenses: 200 €.
– Accommodation: 800 €.
*The residency does not include medical insurance. It is mandatory for artists to personally contract a medical insurance valid during the residency period.

Application
– Applications must be submitted through the Summer Sessions online platform: https://www.summersessions.net/apply
– Applicants must create a two-minute video explaining their project and how they will carry it out during the Summer Sessions. There are no restrictions on the topic or subject matter. Please note that any additional material, written or otherwise, may be submitted. Selections will be made on the basis of videos only. Videos may be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo.
– Each artist may apply with only one project.

Commitments of the selected project
The selected artists will commit to:
– Participate during their residency in communication activities.
– Provide a final report of the project to the centers and an evaluation of the residency during the two months following its completion.
– Make a presentation of the results of the residency at the end of the residency at Hangar (Barcelona), in the framework of Paratext.

Deadline for submission of applications
The deadline for receipt of applications is April 30, 2021 at 11:59 pm CEST (Deadline extended).
