Ari Cardozo is an artist and music enthusiast based in Barcelona.

Her work falls within a noise, lo-fi, and amateur tradition, deeply influenced by both pop music and various interpretations of noise as a concept.

She is interested in the potentials of music as a language within contemporary artistic practices and in experimenting with extended temporalities and fluctuations in intensity.

Active in Barcelona’s underground scene, she has been independently releasing music since 2016, under her own name or the alias Astronaut Chick. She is a member of the Catalan collective and label Nova Era, a pioneer and reference point both locally and internationally in the emerging SoundCloud scene.

Her interest in dub methodologies and improvisation has led to long-form electro-acoustic compositions such as por cada milla que avanzan los pies, el corazón avanza nueve (2022) and the project Barcelona Memories (2023).

Her recent performance projects include ¿Qué hace una chica como tú en un sitio como este? (La Capella, Barcelona, 2023), Demasiado ímpetu (ArtNou, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, 2022); as well as collaborations within the exhibitions Vermell Passió by Irantzu Yaldebere (Halfhouse, Barcelona, 2022) and Declutter by Javier R. Pérez-Curiel (La Taller, Bilbao, 2022).

She has been pursuing a degree in Arts and Design at Escola Massana since 2017.
