Presentation of Escenas Catalanas: errancias antropológico-sexuales
On the 10th of December, as part of the Biblioteca compartida, we will present the publication Escenas Catalanas: errancias antropológico-sexuales (2020) by Mrs Diamanda, published by La Máquina Bcn. The presentation will be moderated by Jesús Jeleton and will include a performance by Mrs Diamanda and Vyltage.
Escenas Catalanas: errancias antropológico-sexuales (2020) is an object book made up of micro-stories accompanied by illustrations, and at the same time a multidisciplinary publishing project (performance, installation, spoken word, video art) which, in the form of a sexual counter-diary, It is also a multidisciplinary publishing project (performance, installation, spoken word, video art) which, in the form of a sexual counter-diary, attempts to outline a critique and analysis of the cis-heteropatriarchal system from the perspective of a Latin American transvestite migrant, in which the transvestite is no longer an object of study, but a subject who sees and criticises from a hyper-realist logic and neo-baroque writing.
Frau Diamanda (Lima, 1971) is a translator, writer, transvestite audiovisual artist, drag performer, independent curator, cultural infomercial, DJ and occasional actress specialising in transgender art and multimedia performance.She is of Peruvian origin and has been living in Barcelona since 2016; She has attended the PEI Independent Studies Programme at MACBA 2017-2018, the Institute of Porno Studies at El Hangar 2018, artistic residencies at Transpalette 2016 (Bourges, France) and at Nigerdo Espacio de Arte in Madrid 2019, and has a long trajectory in Peru and Latin America.
Together with Gelen Alcántara, Jesús Jeleton has formed Equipo Jeleton since 1999, in order to take a critical and twisted look at inherited artistic repertoires. Since 2013 she has also been a working member of the cooperative La Caníbal, a bookshop and cultural agency for transfeminist, anti-capitalist and decolonial social transformation.
Vyltage is an explorer of the dark sides of electronic music, from drone and industrial ambient to the most hedonistic EBM. Miguel Rivero’s project rehearses atmospheres, sequences and even songs inspired as much by Pan Sonic as by Bauhaus and Brian Eno. He has collaborated with Frau Diamanda on several occasions and currently has Rosa Cabrera as a vocal accomplice in his most festive version.
