Efe Ce Ele. Pasto, 1992

Efe Ce Ele is a Colombian transmedia artist currently based in Barcelona, whose work explores the intersection of music, art, biology, and technology. She is an image and sound designer with a Master’s Degree in Technology and Aesthetics of Electronic Arts. Her practice lies at the crossroads of audiovisual experimentation, sound design, and the creation of immersive environments. She is the founder and co-director of Fragment A, a platform and label dedicated to the visibility, diffusion, and publication of Latin American experimental electronics.

Her artistic and academic work spans multiple disciplines, including contemporary art, digital art, sound art, audiovisual, and art+science. She has been a professor in various institutions, teaching Visual Music, Sound Art, and Transmedia Art, and has participated as a panelist and workshop facilitator in events such as Mutek ES (Spain), Medialab Prado (Spain – Currently Medialab Matadero), and the International Image Festival (Colombia).

Her research is intertwined with transfeminism, science fiction, and ecology, addressing the contradictions and dialogues between humanity, nature, and science. Through her work, she seeks to create interfaces between isolated universes, using sound, image, and biology as triggers to question and rethink identity through art and technology.

Her works have been showcased at festivals and exhibitions across Latin America, Europe, Asia and North America in venues such as Mutek (Canada, Japan, Spain, Argentina), HCMF (United Kingdom), CICA Museum (South Korea), and Venice Contemporanea (Italy). Additionally, she has released music on international labels such as Éter Lab (Colombia), Insane Industry (Italy), and Specimen Records (United Kingdom), among others.

Throughout her career, she has received multiple recognitions, including selection for the Keychange (2022) and Amplify DAI (2020) programs, the ArCiTec Award (2018), and the Visual Arts Circulation Grant from the Colombian Ministry of Culture (2016).

Among her most notable projects are “Others” (AV Bio-inspired Performance), “Biosíntesis: Flowers” (Bio Transmedia Performance), “Nacer” (Visual Music Album), “Metastasis Series” (Bio-Transmedia Installations), and “In-Vitro” (Bio-Robotic Sculpture), all of which expand the relationship between body, technology, and hybrid ecosystems.
