Adrian Balseca is graphic designer and fine artist. Member of the art collective La Selecta-Cultural Cooperative (www.laselecta.org). Currently working on the project Archivo Móvil, where he explores the limits and tensions regarding the use of public spaces, gentrification, daily urban, collective identities and cities. Has participated in individual and collective exhibits inside and out of Ecuador: L’etincelle qui met feu à la plaine, CAC, Quito ; From Within, and not necessarily our hearts – IN RIVERS Gallery, New York; Ornato y Delito, Ceroinspiración – Quito;; Quito en Zaragoza, Centro de la Historia – Zaragoza; Ecuadorian Renaissance, Community Art Gallery, Queens Museum of Art – New York; Lo que pasó, pasó, Espacio Arte Actual – Quito;; IV Encuentro Internacional de Arte Urbano al zur-ich, QuitoEdison Vaca, Quito (Ecuador) 1977, among others.
Exchange between the contemporary art centers CeroInspiración (Quito, Ecuador) and Hangar (Barcelona). Archivo Móvil is an initiative of the Cultural team Ceroinspiración in order to explore the memory of La Floresta sector in Quito from a direct contact with the neighborhood. The project’s main objective, in its phase 1 during the month of March, are to share and disseminate the results of this research with the inhabitants of the sector. Afterwards, in April, the project will move to Barcelona, Encants market, in order to test its methodology in the neighborhood of Poblenou, and to articulate both urban realities from its possible points of attachment. The two phases of the project are made next to the Ecuadorian artists Chuky Vaca and Adrián Balseca.
