PRESENTATION OF THE PROGRAMME “DIGITAL GAP: VISUAL ARTISTS ON THE WEB 2.0
The AAVC calls on artists to attend the programme "Digital Gap: Visual Artists on the Web 2.0", next Thursday 19th of May at 19:00 in Hangar.
Many Catalan visual artists do not have their own personal website.
The majority of those who do depend on a professional programmer for updating or modifying its contents.
A large majority of artists do not have an article on Wikipedia, the online, free and collaborative encyclopaedia.
The absence of these tools makes us invisible on the Web.
In order to close this gap, and for artists to gain the necessary visibility, the association has been working on the design a programme. The moment has come to present it and put it into practice through different phases.
Phase 1- WIKIPROJECT= Uploading content of visual artists onto Wikipedia in Catalan, then in Spanish and English.
Phase II- ARTISTS’ WEBSITES= Through courses on different levels of computer literacy, each artist will create and optimise their own site.
Phase III- FREE HOSTING= All the websites will be hosted on the association’s server, sponsored by CDMON.
Phase IV- PORTAL OF REFERENCE = This project aims to include all the websites on a future portal of Visual Arts destined to the international promotion of contemporary art.
If you wish to know about the programme and how it works, and wish to take part in its presentation, let us know and we will explain everything to you in detail.
