On May 20th at 6 pm Hangar presents the sixth session of Rarefacció, a listening cycle curated by Sergi Botella that aims to present proposals that revolve around music and sound from an experimental and unconventional point of view. The guests for this session are Arquea Colectivo, Okkre and Violeta Mayoral.

Arquea Colectivo is situated at the intersections between sound design, visual art and biology. It is made up by Marzia Matarese in visuals and Patricia Usero in the sound in collaboration/complicity with fungi, bacteria and other microorganisms that participate in the process of creation.
Under the pseudonym of Okkre, we find the Asturian producer Uge Pañeda. Musician and psychologist, two professional facets that have made of her bond with sound as a constant exploration through human perception. How this stimulus is capable of altering our moods and consciousness is one of her main reflections on sound compositions. Her work has always been strongly marked by the search and creation of sound experiences that appeal to our emotional memory, play with it, or confuse it through the senses to bring us closer to our own idiosyncrasy.
Violeta Mayoral is an artist based in Barcelona. Her practice addresses different languages and media, from the visual to the performative, and is accompanied by questions that are related to the semiotic condition of experience. She uses the event and hearing as a methodology and her research tries to understand the regimes of meaning from the paradigm of vision and sound experience. Her interest in sound was born at the age of eight after the experience of listening to the note C on her piano and at the age of twenty in a hut she built in the middle of a desert; two speakers, a tape recorder and a computer. Her sessions, which materialize in different ways, are inspired by the event of making noise in silence.
