Chloe Smolarski
Period of residence: August 2002 – 2004
Chloe Smolarski is a filmmaker and multimedia artist who has worked, studied and exhibited in Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and New York, among others. She currently lives and works in New York while teaching media and art. This academic perspective has allowed her to approach from a theoretical point of view aspects as diverse as critical thinking, design history, contemporary art, sociology of the media or computer art. All of these themes are reflected in an interdisciplinary work centred in installations and experimental and documentary video.
Currently, she’s working in “Admissions”, a length creative non-fiction film about the students in higher education, emphasizing the psychological consequences of an exclusionary system. The piece is a mash-up made of her multimedia practices, a geo-political perspective and a pedagogical philosophy.
