Jorge Satorre
Jorge Satorre (Mexico City, 1979) lives and works between Bilbao and Mexico City. After studying Graphic Communication Design at UAM Azcapotzalco in Mexico and pursuing self-taught training as an artist, his work consistently explores the potential of narrative drawing in conjunction with his sculptural practice. His approach is characterized by a focus on the dialectical relationships between tool and ornament, function and form, and the syncretic legacy underlying artisanal processes. His references range from his immediate affective environment to historical moments across various contexts.
Satorre’s work has been exhibited individually at numerous institutions, including: CRAC, Alsace, France; REDCAT, Los Angeles; Museo Tamayo, Mexico City; Galería CarrerasMugica, Bilbao; Galería Labor, Mexico City; Statements, Art Basel; Artspace, Auckland, New Zealand; Le Grand Café, St-Nazaire, France; and FormContent, London, among others. In February 2025, the CA2M in Móstoles will host a retrospective of his work from the past decade.
