Marilyn Boror Bor

Exchange Residency between La Nueva Fábrica and Hangar

june - july 2025

Marilyn Boror Bor. San Juan Sacatepéquez, Guatemala, 1984

Marilyn Boror Bor is a Maya-Kaqchikel artist based in Guatemala who holds a degree in Arts from the University of San Carlos. Her diverse body of work, spanning photography, painting, printmaking, installation and performance, challenges the status quo by speaking out against the patriarchal, racist and colonialist perspectives deeply rooted in the history of Abya Yala. She is committed to exploring and deconstructing language, dismantling power structures through the languages of memory. Her artistic projects of resistance, analysis, preservation and recovery focus on the power of words as historical triggers of cultural meaning and identity. They are a call to reclaim the present by understanding an invisibilised and fragmented past, using language and the body as spaces for political denunciation.

Marilyn Boror Bor’s residency is part of an exchange programme between Hangar in Barcelona and La Nueva Fábrica in Antigua, Guatemala. In 2026, La Nueva Fábrica will host a local artist who was selected through an open call.
