Minyung Im was born in Seoul in 1987. After finishing her studies of Photography in Korea in 2011, she started working in a broadcasting station making video art, therefore she could expand her photography knowledge and works in that area. Since then, she has become well-known for her poetic photography dealing with time and space, and she has also produced some impressive video works relating the city and the lyric. Her work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions in Europe and Korea and she has received numerous awards as Mirae Award (2010), Seoul Photo Festival Portfolio Award (2011), Busan International Video Art Festival(2012), and Off and Free International Film Festival(2013).

In her earlier works, she took photos of the small changes occurring on the everyday life. They were natural changes oozing into our lives, like things getting rusty or moldy. After her degradation works’ period, she took photos in a city where no one payed attention to the surroundings.

Minyung Im is an artist focused on finding the poetics of the city.
