Several artists present in various formats specific projects or parts of their works. The meetings are always opened to the public in order to enable interaction with the artists themselves.

Next session will take place on Wednesday, january 18 at 7.00 pm in Hangar at Ricson space.

The artists will present their work:

Marion Balac

Is a french visual artist graduated from ENSBA Lyon (BFA) and Panthéon Sorbonne, Paris (MFA with honors). Her work uses different media like video, photography, drawing, screenshots and websites. Collecting data and images, using webs as tools of creation, she elaborates new situations and fictions.
The way in which landscapes evolve and also, the way we see them, become the starting point of her wanderings, her researches and her games. From her computer or IRL, she travels to strange places to observe the landscapes, she converts data into fictions and objects into stories.

Megan Michalak

Is a queer transmedia artist living and working between New York City and Toronto. Inspired by William Burrough’s statement, “If you cut into the present, the future leaks out,” Megan Michalak’s work is a public invitation. She asks: if we, the public, held the historical-record hostage, what would the ransom note say? What would get reinserted? Through addressing the performance of historiography in multiple registers of media, her work creates counter-sites where citizens can perform and contest histories of cultural and community memory.
Michalak’s studio practice spans sculpture, performance, digital media and drawing.

Michael J.Lyons

During his residency he will be investigating alternative strategies for composition and live performance with analogue modular synthesizers using a self-built optical-sonic interface.
An array of light sensors generates control voltages for input to an analogue synthesizer patch. In dialogue with members of La Orquesta del Caos and Befaco teams, various synthesizer modules and patches will be tried with the light sensor array. Different compositional strategies will be considered and tried. The apparatus will be used to compose and record a multi-track piece as a soundtrack for an experimental short film (or short films). A portable version of the system will be designed for use in performance.
