Nzinga Biegueng Mboup. Maputo, 1989

Nzinga Biegueng Mboup is a Dakar-based, registered Senegalese architect. In 2019, she co-founded Worofila, an architectural practice specialized in bioclimatic design and construction using earth and biomaterials sourced locally. The aim of Worofila is to promote an architecture that is durable and in harmony with the climate.

In addition to her architectural practice, Nzinga was a researcher for the African Futures Institute and will now serve as a guest critic for their upcoming Nomadic Studio academic program. She has co-authored two research projects, the first one called Dakarmorphose started in 2017, is an ongoing research project on the evolution of Lebu villages and the urban and cultural heritage of the city of Dakar. The second research project called Habiter Dakar, started in 2019 and focuses on the evolution and problematics of housing in Dakar.

In 2023, Nzinga was a mentor for the Building Beyond Program sponsored by the Prince Claus Fund and the Creative Industries NL. She also produced a film on earth architecture in Senegal, titled Bunt BAN that was exhibited at the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale. As of July 2023, Nzinga has been appointed as a curator for the ℅ Dakar program to lead research projects for 3 years centred on the architectural traditions of Senegal.
