Milena Rossignoli. Quito, 1990
Milena Rossignoli’s practice is based on the exercise on the behavior of materials and their sensory relationship, exploring the dynamics of softness, stiffness, tension, suspension and curvature. She works on space as a place of superposition and continuous passage between two-dimensionality and three-dimensionality. A nomad by biography, the measurements of the world appear in her research to be relative and subject to perpetual mutation. Elastic. Space is subject to a compound individual perception: gaze, body mass, sight, hearing, smell and also state of mind. Milena creates a complex and oscillating system of recognition and definition, which each time requires analysis and a new approach. At the center of her attention is the void, which underlines absence and free space because it is contained by a structure, cas packaging as architecture. Construction geometry is the structural value that defines the cardinal points of her work and forms the key to understanding, translating and reorganizing reality.
Milena Rossignoli studied at the Visual Arts Design and Research department at the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts (2012-2016), at the Painting department at the Weisensse Kunstshule in Berlin (2015) and at the Sculpture Department at the Escola Massana d’Art i Disseny de Barcelona (2014).
