Results of the call for applications for long-stay residencies at Hangar (24 months)
In its meeting on 12 January 2024, the jury made up of Magui Dávila and Sabel Gavaldon (permanent jury of the Hangar), together with Anna Manubens (director of the AAVC-Hangar Private Foundation) and Ariadna Guiteras (coordinator of the Residents and Context Networks, with voice but no vote), decided to select the following artists for the long-term residencies that will begin at the Hangar in May 2024:
Huaqian Zhang, Beatriz Olabarrieta, Søren Evinson, José Begega, Oriol Arnedo and Alicia Arévalo.
Substitutes in case of cancellation (in this order): Ari Cardozo, Natalia Dominguez.
The jury wishes to highlight the quality of the dossiers received and the solidity of the practices that see Hangar as a space in which to develop their work over the next two years.
A total of 54 applications were received for the 6 places available. This year, the decisions for long and medium-term residencies were deliberated in parallel and, as both have the same conditions in terms of use of space and workshops, the jury finally decided to award 3 instead of 2 medium-term residencies and 6 instead of 7 long-term residencies.
We would like to thank all the candidates for their work in preparing their dossiers and for the time and care they put into them.
