Resolution of the Open Call for a Research Residency at Pivô in São Paulo, Brazil
The selection committee, comprising Juliana Sampaio, Jacqueline Santiago and Fernanda Brenner from Pivô in São Paulo and Verónica Valentini from Hangar in Barcelona, has decided to award the research residency at Pivô to Sinaí Stengel Bracho from the cantdefine.me collective, for her project Timeless Ways of Building.
The project explores ritual and spiritual practices, such as prayer, dance, music, art and writing, that serve as forms of care, resistance and community building, particularly in urban environments characterised by migration and cultural diversity. Through the syncretism of secular and ancestral beliefs, the project seeks to understand the influence of these practices on contemporary cultural and spiritual identity and their contribution to the creation of collective spaces for healing in the face of capitalist demands.
We would like to thank everyone who submitted an application in response to the open call, and we would like to congratulate Sinaí Stengel Bracho on her well-deserved selection.
Barcelona–São Paulo, 28 May 2025.
