Victor Jaenada
Victor Jaenada, Barcelona, 1977
Period of residence: April 2013 – April 2015
Victor Jaenada is an experienced artist formed firstly in Escola d’Art la Llotja, and after that in the School of Fine Arts of the Universitat de Barcelona. In 2007 he transformed an abandoned place in the periphery into his workshop, where he worked for 5 years. From 2013 to 2015 he develops his multidisciplinary artistic projects in Hangar. Currently lives and works in Barcelona.
The main axis of Jaenada’s artistic production are the negation of the death and the vital reaffirmation. These two motivations are always expecting dormant under superficial layers that are often referred to current affairs. To manage the trace of time and its uncertainty, the artist adopts a Romantic-Punk attitude. The Romantic part tries to slowly assume the transcendental themes, while the Punk one tries to process them quickly. Jaenada’s works are presented in a radical and precipitate way, but beyond the first glance, they reveal a solid and perverse structure.
Some experiences (until 2015) in the artistic field have been: the participation in the exhibition “Atrévete si quieres a no hacer nunca lo que debes” at T-20 Gallery, the solos “Lección #1” and “Romanticismo-Punk” at Balaguer Gallery, the participation in the cycle “FAQ – Factotum” in the Antoni Tàpies Foundation, the selection for Reflecta Award in MNCARS, or the incorporation of the fanzines “Poemas de interpelación” and “Una flor y un subnormal”, co-created with Efrén Àlvarez, to MACBA’s archive.
