The parallax is the effect of changing or displacing the apparent position of an object, just by modifying the observer’s point of view. Knowing this, David Mutiloa‘s work takes the parallax not as a perceptive deviation, but a methodology that allows him to have a privileged viewpoint for the study of what is happening in his field of vision.
Looking at the exhibition act itself in this way, Mutiloa’s work studies the design factor as a device that enables, and even goes beyond, the power of the artistic. This way, he makes a critical analysis of those factors that have marked the culture’s political and economic role in times gone by; and, simultaneously, he directs the same suspicions towards the present.
