PATIÑO. LAUGHING OUT LOUD.
The artist in residence Rubén Patiño presents the performance Patiño. Laughing Out Loud on 9 June at 6 pm in L’ Estruch, Sabadell.
His work covers the field of electronic music and art. He focuses on the sculptural properties of synthetic sound while exploring the limits of a concert, a public event and installation where he tends to contain different strategies in relation to space and presentation formats, and where he combines sound, light, text, image or elements of early electronic music. In this case the piece revolves around the qualities of repetition and inversion, and the psychoacoustic research into the idea of the malevolent laughter of a clown. Sideshow Bob from The Simpsons, in the Latin American version, is called Bob Patiño.
Rubén Patiño has been involved since 2013 with N.M.O., a militarized aerobic unit that, together with percussionist Morten J. Olsen, operates in a hybrid territory between disco music, performance and creative forms of sound specialization. This is what they call “Military Danceable Space Music or Fluxus Techno”. He has also collaborated with Arnau Sala, aka Exoteric Continent, and Roc Jiménez de Cisneros as Super-boredom on a series of multi-channel audio pieces using an extremely rigid temporal structure.
