Films for a ceasefire. Second session

We present the second session of Films for a ceasefire, a series of screenings to continue to maintain a space for attention, denunciation and action in the face of the genocide being perpetrated by the State of Israel in Gaza and its siege of the Palestinian population in the West Bank. We continue to insist on the urgent need for a ceasefire and the condemnation of the intolerable crimes against the Palestinian community and the land of Gaza, which seem increasingly irreversible and irreparable. We continue to try to keep open spaces for conversation and mobilisation against discontent.

We Began by Measuring Distance (19 mins, 2009) by Basma Alsharif, Electrical Gaza (17 mins, 2015) by Rosalind Nashashibi and Les Femmes Palestiniennes (16 mins, 1974) by Jocelyne Saab., will be screened in this session, among others to be confirmed.

In addition, at the end of the screening, there will be a raffle of 3 baskets* in which resident artists, staff and people close to Hangar have collaborated in order to raise funds for humanitarian aid in Palestine. The cost of each number for the raffle is 5 euros, and they can be purchased on the day of the screening as well as in advance and physically through the resident artists and staff of the centre.

We are still consulting with possible recipients of these donations. It is also an urgent reflection for us to pay attention to the fact that the funds collected will impel, from our context of situated action, the greatest possible capacity of response in these moments in which the necessary humanitarian aid is not reaching Gaza. More details to come.
