Techniques and Materials 1, with Pablo Capitán del Río
On 30 and 31 March, the first of a series of workshops on material research will take place as part of OLLA. Common Research Programme. Taught by the artist Pablo Capitán del Río, it is a first approach to volumetric and three-dimensional construction. A technical rather than theoretical approach, or at least, towards a more direct contact with materials and tools; how to handle, understand and work with them. The idea is to project materially, to articulate questions and solve problems related to construction from a more radical position. A kind of DIY where the possibilities and characteristics of different materials are explored. The two-day workshop is aimed at Hangar’s resident artists and other non-resident participants who want to learn to work collectively, with Hangar’s construction lab machines and the techniques and materials that will be addressed on this occasion: a) hot-melt materials, b) rubber and foams, c) silicones.
The main objective of this workshop is to be able to translate what is planned into reality. We will familiarise ourselves with the basic tools to find practical solutions for what we want to build.
