Les moltes aigües del te, with Meiai Lin

Among the common threads of research that converge in OLLA, of particular concern are the situational logics of Hangar from other less usual reading and inscription devices to which the center has become used to. One is the approach to the logics of water -orographically Hangar is located in an old wetland in Poble Nou-. This sensibility was already revealed in its technopolitical dimension in the session Words of Weather, by Daphne Dragona. The image chosen for OLLA could also be considered a symptom of it.

However, in this occasion the exercise consists of knowing and activating the importance of water in the oriental tea rituals. Therefore, we conducted a practical workshop of Gaiwan, which has a deep symbolism and its own language within the tea culture in China. With Meiai Lin, owner of the store Interior de té in Barcelona, we talked about its history and origins, how it is used and what each of its parts means, the secret language used in Chinese tea houses using this garment. Of types and shapes, of materials and ways of use. How it is used as a teapot or drinking cup and its symbolic and affective implications within the tea ritual.

This activity is part of OLLA, Common Research Program.

Closed-door activity for resident artists.
