Films for a cease-fire
We are launching a series of screenings to continue to maintain a space for attention, denunciation and action in the face of the genocide being perpetrated by the State of Israel in Gaza and its siege of the Palestinian population in the West Bank. We continue to insist on the urgent need for a ceasefire and the condemnation of the intolerable crimes against the Palestinian community and the land of Gaza, which seem increasingly irreversible and irreparable. We continue to try to keep open spaces for conversation and mobilisation against discontent.
Each screening will be PWYW with copies for sale and popcorn and drinks available in exchange for donations.

About Subversive Films
Subversive Film is a cinema research and production collective that aims to cast new light upon historic works related to Palestine and the region, to engender support for film preservation, and to investigate archival practices. Formed in 2011, Subversive Film is based between Ramallah and Brussels.
Sobre Tokyo Reels
In 2019, after a meeting in Tokyo with Masao Adachi, acclaimed director of different experimental agit-prop films and former member of the Japanese Red Army, Subversive Film was entrusted with a collection of 16mm films
safe-guarded by a Japanese solidarity group in Tokyo. The 20 reels present a collection of films rendering a history of political mobilisation and solidarity making with Palestine specific to Japan at the time. The films were made by Palestinian, Arab, Japanese and American filmmakers and journalists, and were commissioned by various political bodies, TV stations, and UNRWA.
*At the time of launching the announcement of this first session, we are still consulting with possible recipients of these donations. It is also an urgent reflection for us to ensure that the funds collected from our local context of action are as responsive as possible at a time when the necessary humanitarian aid is not reaching Gaza. More details to come.
