Silomen Cholq’ij – Colectiva Maya Mujeres Ajchowen – Guatemala

Ce Quimera presents Silomen Cholq’ij, a workshop based on the Mayan cosmovision given by the Ajchowen Women’s Collective, whose artistic expression is based on spirituality and the interpretation of natural events. The meeting proposes to acknowledge the practice, nature, cosmogony and artistic manifestations of the Mayan people found in daily life – the Cholq’ij Mayan Calendar – to promote self-esteem and healing between different ways of seeing the world.

Ce Quimera, the Pluriversidad nómada and Hangar host the Mujeres Ajchowen collective during the week of 12 October. Mujeres Ajchowen is a collective of Mayan women based on the principles and values of the Mayan cosmovision, with the aim of healing consciousness, promoting culture, political training, research and ancestral knowledge. It develops and promotes artistic processes for Mayan women’s theatre, generating historical memory, healing for the dignity of Mayan art and the individual and collective rights of women and indigenous peoples.
