Punkstage, body-camera with Silvia Zayas.
Project in residence Hamaca presents the workshop Punkstage, body-camera with Silvia Zayas.
The brain reacts to images of touch in a similar way to touch. The same neural mechanism is activated by watching dancing as by dancing, by watching sliding as by sliding. Our eyes are magnified by a body camera that searches, moves, imprints movement, reorients and palpates.
Punkstage will work with modes of filming that displace the usual way of hand-eye filming. We will use and train somatic techniques and experiment with forms of attention and perception. This workshop proposes disobedience to linear narratives and works with the pre-verbal, the interruption, what we cannot yet name. This journey proposes states of attention to perceive the world as a complex phenomenon, to feel polyrhythms without the primacy of language. More than a historical and theoretical proposal of cinematographic techniques, the proposal goes through examples of contradictions between cinematographic language and the living arts, and carries out cinematographic practices outside the workshop: in water or in industrial environments.
Snorkelling will be one of the sessions of this workshop. It is advisable to know how to swim, but snorkelling will be practised together – it is very easy. In the event that you are not able to swim, an alternative practice will be suggested from the shore. This will depend on the weather and sea conditions and may be postponed if conditions are not suitable.
