Visit to Materfad with Hangar residents
On 7 May at 2 pm, artists in residence and part of the Hangar team do a visit to Materfad, Barcelona’s Materials Centre. The idea is to continue sustaining a pre-occupation with the material approach to vectorised artistic practices, in this case, through the OLLA. Common research programme. We conceived it as an attempt to continue Laura Tripaldi’s workshop Thinking with materials which took place a few months ago and in response to many of the questions that have emerged in the three practical workshops in the Techniques and materials series.
The visit will consist of a one-hour talk, more theoretical than practical, with Robert Thompson, Materfad’s Scientific Director, and a half-hour free exploration of the material showroom to make contact with each one of them. In this visit to the showroom of physical samples, located on floor -1 of Disseny Hub Barcelona, and in the Materfad database, we will be able to consult hundreds of commercially available materials, technologies and innovative processes that facilitate technology transfer between sectors as different as biotechnology, construction, transport or textiles, as well as, of course, artistic practices.
We have reserved 5 places for people interested in joining us.
